Year 4 Homework We normally set homework on a weekly basis and the children will be expected to complete one piece of maths and one piece of literacy. Year 4 has access to Mathletics, which they can access at any time at home. All children will also be set spellings to learn for homework ready for a test in school the following week. Finally, children will take a book home with them every day so they can enjoy reading at home as well as in school.
Reading Year 4 are expected to read for at least ten minutes in the evening (to an adult or to themselves). Please ensure your child has their reading book and record in school every day, as well as recording in the reading record when you read with your child. We encourage this to be as regularly as possible and any type of reading is appropriate e.g. newspapers, magazines, cereal boxes, books from home, school reading book, library book etc.
PE Year 4 have PE every Wednesday afternoon and need to have weather appropriate PE kit in school on those days. Please ensure that all kit is clearly labelled to avoid issues with lost clothes.
Mile Run Every child KS2 is expected to run/jog/walk one mile every day, this has proved to have many benefits, not only to the children’s fitness but also their concentration in class, sleep patterns and confidence. The children have the option of bringing in running shoes/trainers to be worn for the mile run (only).
Snack In Year 4, children can have a biscuit and a drink for 25p per day (£1.25 per week).
